Patricia Young

Born and bred in Brisbane. Her family moved to Hobart when she was eighteen months old, and then to Adelaide before returning to Brisbane in 1949 and settling at Mitchelton which was then an outer suburb. In 1964, Patricia went on a working holiday to New Zealand and returned to Brisbane with husband Terry. They built a house at Ferny Hills and raised three daughters plus two foster daughters. When the family finally left the nest, Patricia and husband Terry decided to leave as well. They bought a business and moved up to the Mary Valley.

Roslyn J. Motter

Roslyn J. Motter is a Sydney based children’s book author. When she’s not writing, she works in her acupuncture practice. She has a dog called Indy and some hens and ducks.

Roslyn is concerned that these days children rely too much on stimulation from computer games. She wrote the Doofuzz Dudes series in the hope that children reading the books would feel the thrill of adventure and dream of exploring other planets and meeting mystical creatures.

David J. Delaney

I am a former Brisbane boy but now currently live and work in Cairns. I sometimes wonder where I get the time to write but always seem to manage to pen something. I am also a member of Tropical writers group Cairns, Arts Nexus Cairns and Australian Bush Poets Association.

Having had no formal education in writing and now in my 50’s, I wanted to show that someone like myself without higher schooling could write and enjoy it. After numerous jobs throughout my youth I eventually moved into Furniture Removals where I stayed for approximately 25 years. For 17 of these years, my wife and I operated our own removal business, and were able to travel extensively throughout New South Wales and Queensland. Since leaving the removal industry several years ago and having some ‘thinking’ time, my experiences, memories of driving the highways and tracks, the vast and beautiful outback, my wife, daughters, grand children and family, stories from mates, work colleagues and close war veterans have given me the inspirations for my writings.

Ingrid Gorrie

Ingrid Gorrie was born in Austria and immigrated with her family to Brisbane, Australia in 1983. In 2003 she moved close to Bribie Island, and as she says, lives now in paradise.
Ingrid started writing when she was a teenager and kept writing over the years, discovering her love for short stories and romantic poetry. Ingrid developed a flair for cooking from her mother, and since October 2003 Ingrid’s Recipes have been read weekly on Colin Campbell’s Gardening Show on radio station 4BC. Combining her passion for cooking and her own romantic poetry, Ingrid published her book “Of Good Food & Saucy Poetry”. Ingrid says: “When browsing through this book, remember how lovely and lively it was when the family sat around the table to share a meal. Rediscover the joy of cooking and maybe even go out on a limb and jot down some poetry. There is a poet in each of us!”
